LED Parking Lot Lighting Conversion

MTE Electric upgraded the parking lot lighting at Family Medical Center in Phelan, California, by converting eight existing metal halide fixtures to energy-efficient LED lighting. The existing ballasts were bypassed, and new 54-watt LED replacement lamps were installed within the existing parking lot light fixtures.

The work was performed from our towable boom lift, allowing our electricians to safely access the elevated fixtures and complete the conversion throughout the medical center parking area.

By retaining the existing fixture housings and converting the internal lighting components, we were able to provide the property with an LED lighting upgrade without requiring the complete replacement of each parking lot fixture.

Replacing Metal Halide Lighting With LED

LED replacement lamps also eliminate the existing metal halide ballasts from the lighting circuit. Bypassing the ballasts removes an additional component that can fail and allows the LED lamps to operate directly from the fixture’s electrical supply.

The newly converted fixtures produce a cleaner 5000K white light that improves nighttime visibility throughout the parking area.

The completed conversion provides Family Medical Center with brighter, more consistent exterior lighting while continuing to use the existing parking lot poles and fixture housings.

The finished lighting system provides clean, bright illumination throughout the property while allowing the customer to continue using the existing fixture housings and parking lot poles.

The completed project converted eight existing metal halide parking lot fixtures to LED lighting at Family Medical Center in Phelan. Each fixture was accessed from a boom lift, the existing metal halide ballast was bypassed, and a new 54-watt LED replacement lamp was installed.

This approach can be a practical solution when the existing fixtures and poles remain serviceable but the older lighting components have become inefficient, unreliable, or difficult to maintain.
